Santa Anita “UnCorked” a Success For CARMA

The 10th annual Santa Anita UnCorked food, wine and art festival was a celebration of Thoroughbred racehorses – both those on the track and those embarking on their second careers. More than 600 guests flooded the Club Court area the Great Race Place on Belmont Stakes Day eager to taste marvelous wines and sample signature dishes from popular restaurants.

CARMA, a charitable 501(c)(3) dedicated to providing funding for the rehabilitation, retraining and/or retirement of California-raced Thoroughbred horses, had a large presence at UnCorked. Attendees hovered over its silent auction table boasting more than 20 desirable items ranging from beautiful equine themed artwork, signed posters of horse racing’s elite and gift certificates to local dining establishments.

Silent auction garnered more than $3,000 in donations to help support retired racehorses – highest in the history of this event for CARMA.

Santa Anita UnCorked is the brainchild of CARMA’s Vice President Candace Coder Chew, who is also Director of Graphics & Print at Santa Anita. The proceeds from the event were donated to CARMA and other local nonprofits organizations.
