CARMA Participates in National Welfare and Safety Summit

CARMA was proud to attend the 12th Welfare and Safety of the Racehorse Summit, hosted by the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation and The Jockey Club at Keeneland. The biennial conference brings together leaders from across the Thoroughbred industry to advance discussions on equine safety, welfare, and the future of racing. This year’s agenda included a dedicated session on aftercare, highlighting its growing importance as a fundamental part of the industry’s commitment to Thoroughbred welfare.

Representing CARMA, Executive Director Lucinda Lovitt joined a national panel on aftercare to share the success of the CARMA Placement Program. With more than 500 Thoroughbreds successfully transitioned into second careers, the program continues to demonstrate how strong racetrack partnerships and proactive placement efforts can improve outcomes for horses while serving as a model for other racing jurisdictions across the country.

As conversations around horse welfare continue to evolve, CARMA is honored to help shape the future of aftercare and showcase the impact that collaborative, sustainable placement programs can have nationwide.

A replay of the summit will be available on their website in the coming days. 12th Welfare and Safety of the Racehorse Summit>>
