For the second consecutive year, CARMA supporters showed up in a big way at the Santa Anita Derby Day 5K, helping make CARMA the top fundraising charity partner of the event once again.
Held annually at Santa Anita Park, the Derby Day 5K brings together runners, racing fans, and industry supporters for a morning focused on community and giving back. Participants have the opportunity to support a charity of their choice through registration and fundraising efforts, with CARMA supporters once again leading the pack.
The continued support reflects the racing community’s commitment to Thoroughbred aftercare and the mission of helping California-raced Thoroughbreds transition successfully into second careers and loving homes after racing.
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who participated, donated, and rallied behind CARMA,” said Executive Director Lucinda Lovitt. “To see this level of support two years in a row speaks volumes about the passion people have for Thoroughbred aftercare and the horses we all care so deeply about.”
Funds raised through the Derby Day 5K directly support CARMA’s programs and aftercare partners, helping provide rehabilitation, retraining, placement, and lifelong sanctuary for retired racehorses.
The event has quickly become a meaningful tradition for CARMA supporters and an important opportunity to raise awareness for the importance of aftercare within the racing industry.
